Earlier work by the author indicated that the interactive whiteboard was "an excellent tool to encourage a wide range of children to engage in early reading and writing activities." In this work an interactive big book was used to test this hypothesis. The methodology used video and reflective diaries to follow the progress of the research. The evidence showed that there were noticeable increases in reading attainment compared to the cohorts of the previous three years. Reasons for this are suggested including the way in which the interactive big book supports different approaches to learning. |
